Dr. Pradip Gyanwali, MBBS, MD (Clinical Pharmacology)

Dr. Pradip Gyanwali holds an MBBS and MD in Clinical Pharmacology from Tribhuvan University, Institute of Medicine, Maharajgunj Medical Campus, Nepal.
He currently serves as Vice-Chancellor of Madan Bhandari Academy of Health Sciences (MBAHS), a health sciences university in Bagmati Province, Hetauda, Nepal. The Government of Bagmati Province recently appointed him to the position for a four-year term.
Previously, Dr. Gyanwali served as the Executive Chief (Member Secretary) of the Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC), Government of Nepal, following his nomination by the Government of Nepal. He completed his four-year tenure in this position.
Dr. Gyanwali has been involved as a Principal Investigator in multiple national and international research projects, with a particular focus on clinical trials and priority areas of health research in Nepal. His research involvement includes the RECOVERY Trial, led by the University of Oxford, and the WHO Solidarity Trial, which investigated drug treatments related to COVID-19.
He has also been involved in research on epidemic intelligence and COVID-19 viral genomics, including work associated with international research collaboration led by the Wellcome Trust. In addition, his research activities have included clinical research related to both COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 conditions, herbal drug development, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and other priority areas of health research in Nepal.
Dr. Gyanwali has published more than 80 articles in national and international journals, and his publications have received more than 4,000 citations on Google Scholar, reflecting the reach of his research contributions.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he served as a leading member of the core technical team representing health researchers at the Ministry of Health and Population, Government of Nepal, contributing to the national response to the pandemic. He has also contributed to health policy development and has worked with the Government of Nepal on the development of health policies, bringing research and scientific evidence into discussions related to national health priorities.
His professional experience spans health research, clinical trials, research leadership, COVID-19 research, health policy, and institutional leadership, with involvement in both national and international research collaborations.
